Uckfield is synonymous with history. It dates back to the 12th century and has a long and interesting heritage. A famous landmark within the market town is the Holy Cross Church which is a reminder of its mediaeval past - but within the surrounding area there are many more historical sites and artefacts to be seen.
Well known as a market town, Uckfield is located on a boundary of High Weald which is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) - a major draw for those visiting this beautiful part of the UK. There are many reasons you’d want to visit this area of East Sussex including a wonderful selection of antique shops, but also for its town centre which features a variety of retailers and a pedestrianised shopping area, banks, cinema and a leisure centre.
When it comes to things to do, Uckfield is both home and in close proximity to a variety of outdoor, fun and adventurous activities - such as the Bluebell Railway, Wilderness Wood, Heaven Farm, Devil’s Dyke, Encryption Escape Rooms and so much more.
For the non planners - or those that like to take a break a day at a time - the nature and beautiful surroundings of the stunning countryside being on your doorstep is reason enough to make the journey.
